Information Day - 18 October 2007
One day before the actual conference, the traditional FEANTSA Information Day took place which aimed to provide participants the opportunity to exchange information about homelessness initiatives in their countries as well as to visit homelessness projects in and around Zaragoza.

Workshop 1: Employment for people who are homeless: right or requirement? This workshop looked at the difficult relationship between the right of a person who is homeless to benefit from the empowering role of employment and related activities and the pressure from society on people who are homeless to be �activated�. The workshop tried to define �positive activation� for people who are homeless.

Workshop 2 : When is a person ready for work and how to get there? This workshop looked at the role of meaningful occupation and life-skills training in order to prepare people who are homeless for their possible re-integration into the labour market. The workshop discussed the role of a purposeful activity for people who will probably never be able to find mainstream employment, including people who are homeless with mental and physical health problems.

Workshop 3: Where can people who are homeless find employment? This workshop looked at possibilities for people who are homeless to gain employment. It discussed the advantages and disadvantages of employment for people who are homeless in the mainstream labour market and in the social economy.

Workshop 4: What comes first: housing or employment? This workshop will look at the difficulties of people who are homeless to secure both, adequate and secure housing and employment. The workshop will discuss possibilities to further strengthen the mutual support between housing and employment policies and to improve cooperation between housing and employment services for people who are homeless.

Workshop 5: What can we learn from EQUAL? EQUAL is the Community Initiative strand of the European Social Fund that tests and promotes new ways to combat labour market discrimination and inequality. 14 of the projects have people experiencing homelessness as a main target group. This workshop will look at the main findings of this unique experience.
