FEANTSA Database of Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights relating to housing rights

This compilation of housing related cases at the Council of Europe European Court of Human Rights was prepared under the auspices of the FEANTSA Expert Group on Housing Rights in 2008. The list of cases is not exhaustive as there are many cases where housing is mentioned but where it is not the main point at issue. However, this compilation is intended to present the principal housing related cases considered by the Strasbourg Court under the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR).

The Council of Europe Court does not directly address housing rights but only through the medium of the civil and political rights which the Convention guarantees to all those residing in the States which have ratified the Convention. As such, housing and housing rights are considered only within the Articles of the Convention.

The most relevant Articles in this instance are Articles 2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 14 and Article 1 of Protocol 1.
