Policy statements on homelessness/social inclusion at EU level

2008

FEANTSA Response to the active inclusion agenda proposed in the 2007 European Commission Communication on "Modernising social protection for greater social justice and economic cohesion: taking forward the active inclusion of people furthest from the labour market".
[29/2/2007]

This short contribution to EU debates on active inclusion builds on FEANTSA’s 8 Basic Principles for the active inclusion of homeless people developed following the first active inclusion consultation (FEANTSA, 2006) and aims to shed light on the potential transferability of the proposed ideas and measures in the recent Commission Communication into concrete policies for the active inclusion of homeless people.

Poverty reality check: Homelessness on the increase in Europe
[1/9/2007]

This FEANTSA statement is a contribution to the European stocktaking of social realities launched by the Bureau of European Policy Advisers of the European Commission (BEPA).This paper attempts to highlight some (not all) key initiatives and findings at European and national level which confirm the current political consensus on the urgent need to tackle the root causes of homelessness. In contradiction with all declarations on European values and the importance of the European social model, homelessness is a European social reality in Europe, and national governments are increasingly aware of the need to tackle the problem before it spirals out of control.
