Policy statements on the Open Method of Coordination (OMC)
FEANTSA statements related to the OMC can be found on this webpage. The OMC is the mechanism used to coordinate national social inclusion policies in the framework of the EU strategy on social protection and social inclusion through cooperation between the European Commission, national social affairs administrations, and other European stakeholders. FEANTSA is one of the main European stakeholders in this OMC framework, and provides regular feedback on the functioning of the process.

[10/2007] FEANTSA recommendations for the 2007 European Round Table on poverty and social exclusion. "Untapped potential: Using the full potential of the OMC to address poverty" FEANTSA, the European federation of national organisations working with homeless people, has followed the EU social inclusion strategy since the beginning (2001-2007), has participated in evaluations of the OMC, has been invited to actively participate in all six Round Tables (Aarhus, Turin, Rotterdam, Glasgow, Tampere, Ponta del Gada), and has seen the emergence of tackling homelessness and improving access to decent housing as key priorities for anti-poverty policy at EU level. This short statement makes recommendations to experts on poverty and social exclusion involved in the OMC process on how to use the full potential of this European tool for the eradication of poverty including extreme forms of poverty and exclusion such as homelessness. |
