The project will cover a strategy to combat homelessness, currently developed by a team set up to solve the problem of homelessness. The last meeting of the team took place on 28 April 2010. All Polish FEANTSA members are involved in preparing this strategy.
Slovenia
Conference on social exclusion, poverty and homelessness
Kings of the Street has organized a conference on social exclusion, poverty and homelessness, with a view to developing a national strategy on homelessness. The event will take place from the 16th-18th June in Ljubljana. The conference aims to mobilize different experts and organizations operating in Slovenia in the field of homelessness, and to coordinate efforts towards the development, negotiation and adoption of national policy or strategy on homelessness. At the same time the aim is to contribute to mutual learning and provide networking opportunities for those working in the field and transfer of good practice models from other European countries. Netherlands
Federatie Opvang hosts Social Inclusion Games Federatie Opvang and Humanitas Onder Dak, an organisation working with people who are homeless or experiencing social exclusion, are hosting The Social Inclusion Games Foundation event, the “Social Inclusion Games”. This event, held for the first time in Denmark last year, is an international sporting event for clients in emergency and sheltered accommodation and women’s shelters. The Social Inclusion Games will take place from the 1st to the 7th August 2010 on the campus of the Technische Universiteit in Twente. Homeless organisations in the Netherlands have decided to host this initiative to recognise that sport and exercise play an important role in the care and support of homeless service users, as they can do something that is good for body and mind. Participants will play in teams as much as possible. Meeting others, sharing great experiences and a new sense of community are important goals of the Social Inclusion Games. Therefore different groups and nationalities will unite in the teams. Participants can register online and find information about the programme, the organisation of the games, travel information and more. Contact Tina-Marie Schuurmans with any questions.
