FEANTSA, the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless is an umbrella of not-for-profit organisations which participate in or contribute to the fight against homelessness in Europe.  It is the only major European network that focuses exclusively on homelessness at European level.

European Research Conference - 17th September 2010, Budapest - Registrations are now open!
FEANTSA’s European Observatory on Homelessness, the ENHR WELPHASE Working Group and the Metropolitan Research Institute Budapest, are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Research Conference on Homelessness in Europe, Understanding Homelessness and Housing Exclusion in the New European Context.

FEANTSA is organising a Consensus Conference on Homelessness in co-operation with the Belgian Presidency of the EU, the European Commission and the French government.

FEANTSA 'Ending Homelessness' Campaign
 
In the framework of the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, FEANTSA is running a campaign called 'Ending Homelessness'.

The FEANTSA campaign and handbook were launched in the European Parliament.

Ending Homelessness: A Handbook for Policy Makers
This resource brings together examples of effective approaches from across Europe that have made progress towards ending homelessness. Available in EnglishFrenchPolish and Slovenian.
FEANTSA Annual Theme 2009: Participation and Homelessness - Videos
In the context of this year's Annual Theme on Participation and Homelessness, FEANTSA asked its members to submit videos or other forms of information resources on homelessness and good practices of participation from their countries. A selection of the different contributions can be accessed here.  
European Report 2008: the role of housing in pathways into and out of homelessness
 
This European Report presents the main findings from national reports of 18 EU countries.  It is currently available in English, French and Spanish.

European Year 2010

The European Union has designated 2010 as  the European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
 
Look at the activities FEANTSA members have been running in the framework of the European Year.

FEANTSA Policy statement on "How to measure homelessness and housing exclusion" [19/03/2010]
This paper makes recommendations for 1. A European Typology on Homelessness and housing exclusion (ETHOS) 2. A Europe-wide monitoring system on homelessness 3. The use of EU-SILC to collect information on homelessness, through the use of retrospective modules.

The impact of EU legislation on social services [11/02/2010]
Report of a seminar organised by the Informal Network of Social Service Providers (of which FEANTSA is a member). This report gives concrete examples of how some EU policies and legislation impact on social services at national and local level, and formulates recommendations aimed at EU authorities and public authorities in EU Member States.

The changing role of service provision: Barriers of access to health services for homeless people [2006]
This paper examines the approaches adopted to meet the health needs of homeless people in Europe. The focus is on barriers of access to health care and the nature of health interventions. The paper draws upon evidence from seven EU countries and aims to describe the different approaches in their national context as well as to draw comparative lessons from the evidence.

The changing role of the state: Homelessness and exclusion: regulating public space [2006]
The report consists on three parts and starts by charting the background to what the authors refer to as the ‘regulation of urban space’. In the second part, they look at the evidence from across Europe and especially from the case study countries - Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden. In the third part variety of explanations are considered for the imposition of restricted access during the present period.
